What makes a great toggle button?
A good toggle button is clearly defined, with either text or icon labels clearly denoting the action that will take place if selected. The chosen state must be clear to signify to the user what state is selected.
What can I use instead of a toggle switch?
Toggle switches have their uses, but only if you use them right. As an alternative, you could use radio buttons or check boxes, for example. In both cases, tooltips could help users choose.
