What is grid system in UI design?
Grid systems are aids designers use to build designs, arrange information and make consistent user experiences. They include rule of thirds, golden section, single-column, multi-column, modular, baseline and responsive grid systems. For example, responsive adapts content to screen size and orientation, for consistency.
What is standard grid size?
We'll discuss this in greater depth soon. The widths of the columns are always up to the designer, but in terms of standard practices, the traditional number of columns to use is 12 on desktop, 8 on tablet, and 4 on mobile. Most grids have 60-80px column widths.
How many columns for mobile design?
Mobile content is typically limited to one or two columns. When designing for mobile, consider using a tile layout grid, in which the column and row heights are the same. This will give a look of square tiles across the design.
