Can a app collect data without permission?
To gain access to information like your location or contacts or to get access to features like your camera and microphone, apps need your permission. You may be asked to give permission when you first download the app, or at the time the app first tries to access that information or feature.
Do apps need storage permission?
An Android application needs storage permission when it has to store or retrieve something from local or external storage. Unfortunately there are no restrictions that specify the folders they have access to. So they may have access to all the storage.
Why do apps ask for storage permission?
As the name suggests, permissions govern what an app is allowed to do and access. This ranges from reading the data stored on your phone, such as contacts and media files, through to using hardware including your handset's camera or microphone. Granting permission allows the app to use the feature.
Can app developers see your data?
An app accesses the data only on your device and it is not sent off your device. For example, if you provide an app permission to access your location, but it only uses that data to provide app functionality on your device and does not send it to its server, it does not need to disclose that data as collected.
