Can you create a bin from a calculated field in Tableau?
Note: You can bin data only for relational data sources and binned fields cannot be used in calculations. However, it is possible to create a calculated field that will replicate a bin of a specific size. For example: (FLOOR([Sales]/1000)*1000) will create bins with a size of 1000.
How do I create a dynamic bin in Tableau?
You can simply right click on the measure you want your bin to be based on then go to create and select bins from there. Instead of selecting a value for bin size, select create a parameter and then create one which gives user the ability to decide the bin size dynamically.
Can we create dimension bins?
We can create the bins on measures only, we can't create on dimensions. Generally bins field will be used in Histogram Chart. Generally bins field will be used in Histogram Chart.
