What does lightness mean in color?
Lightness (or brightness) is the amount of white or black mixed in with the color. It's also calculated as a percentage value between 0% and 100%. 0% lightness will also always be black.
How would you call the lightness of a color?
Value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. A light color is a tint. For example, pink is a tint of red. A dark color is called a shade.
What is the difference between lightness and saturation?
Saturation pertains the amount of white light mixed with a hue. High-saturation colors, such as the circle on the left, contain little or no white light. Brightness refers to intensity, distinguished by the amount of shading mixed with the hue.
Is lightness the same as value?
The Value' (also called lightness or luminosity) of a color is a measure of how light or dark a color is while its hue is held constant. The lightness of an object depends on the reflectance of that object.
