How do you calculate error rate in usability testing?

For example, if a task has 5 opportunities for an error and 10 users attempt the task there are 50 opportunities. If you observe 5 errors across the users the error rate is 5/50 = 10%.

What is user error rate?

User error rate

The user error rate identifies the number of times a user makes a mistake while performing a task.

How do you measure the success rate of usability testing?

To report levels of success, you simply report the percentage of users who were at a given level. So, for example, if out of 100 users, 35 completed the task with a minor issue, you would say that 35% of your users were able to complete the task with a minor issue.

What are the four 4 principles of usability testing?

1) Determine whether testers can complete tasks successfully and independently. 2) Assess their performance and mental state as they try to complete tasks, to see how well your design works. 3) See how much users enjoy using it. 4) Identify problems and their severity.
