Free software to set up screen-based eye trackers
The Tobii Pro Eye Tracker Manager allows researchers to easily configure the eye tracker when it's being used with a screen. This application is also used to configure the hardware in scene camera setups, where physical objects are used as stimuli.
How does eye-tracking software work?
The eye tracker sends out near infrared light. The light is reflected in your eyes. Those reflections are picked up by the eye tracker's cameras. Through filtering and calculations, the eye tracker knows where you are looking.
Can I use my phone as an eye tracker?
Smartphone eye-tracking is possible on Android and IOS devices and does not require any additional hardware.
Is an eye tracker free?
There are various options available for eye tracking, and some of these are offered free-of-charge. While this can be a great benefit for many users, this advantage is dependent on the software working well – if it doesn't function as hoped, or offer the capabilities required, then the price doesn't matter.
