What are filters in UI design?

Filters provide a set of controls to reduce items in a collection based on attributes the user is interested in (e.g., filtering items by creation date). Filters can provide the following functionality: A list of interesting attributes common to items in a collection, and possible values to filter by.

What is a filter pane?

The Filters pane displays all filters added by the designer to the report. The Filters pane is also the area where you can view information about the filters and interact with them. Save changes you make or use Reset to default to revert to the original filter settings.
