Hierarchical grid
Hierarchical grids are most commonly found in web design. The purpose of these grids is to arrange elements in order of importance. They can be a little more flexible but they still use columns, rows, and modules to help with organization.

All layout grids can be designed in two ways: symmetric or asymmetric. Symmetric grids follow a center line. The vertical margins are equal to each other, as are the horizontal ones. Columns in a symmetric layout are also the same width.
What is the difference between grid and grid layout?
GridView simply gives us a two-dimensional view to display the items on the screen, under ViewGroup. On the other hand, GridLayout is a layout manager that arranges the views in a grid.
