What is Google SMS verification?
With Google Verified SMS, a business can register source phone numbers with Google through a messaging provider partner. Google then verifies each message the business sends and includes the sender's business name and logo and a verification badge in the message thread.
Why would someone send me a Google verification code?
The Google authentication process prompts the scammer to prove that they own the number by entering a six-digit code sent to the victim's phone. The scammer tricks the victim into sharing the verification code, then uses this to “prove” they have access to the victim's U.S. number.
Does Google send text messages?
