What is the difference between the up button and back button?
The Up button never exits your app
If a user is at the app's start destination, then the Up button does not appear, because the Up button never exits the app. The Back button, however, is shown and does exit the app.

On Back button Pressed: finish the current activity by calling stop method. On Home button pressed: activity is being paused and then it may either resume if come back to it, otherwise system will call stop() method of activity to save unused resources and utilize memory.
How to handle hardware back button in Android?
The hardware back button is found on most Android devices. In native applications it can be used to close modals, navigate to the previous view, exit an app, and more. By default in Ionic, when the back button is pressed, the current view will be popped off the navigation stack, and the previous view will be displayed.
