Site owners often use JavaScript to block anyone from copying their content. To copy text from a blocked site in Chrome, disable JavaScript on the site.
Why do some websites not let you copy and paste?
Most bank and financial websites don't allow users to copy a piece of text to the clipboard using the mouse or keyboard shortcut for security reasons. For example, I recently used a popular stock broking website called Groww, which doesn't allow me to copy anything to the clipboard, and they are not the only ones.

Why do websites block paste?
It's because it's only a UI solution. It blocks a normal user from copying from the browser, but if you go into the browser's inspect tool, everything is still laid out in plain text. So in reality there is no way to stop all attempt of copying a website.
