What makes a good user persona?
Effective personas: Represent a major user group for your website. Express and focus on the major needs and expectations of the most important user groups. Give a clear picture of the user's expectations and how they're likely to use the site.
How often should personas be updated?
Most teams update personas every 1–4 years. Our survey respondents also rated how successful the personas were in creating a better user experience in the final product on a 1–7 scale (1= lowest; 7=highest).
Why do personas fail?
There's a fundamental flaw with the personas
For personas to be useful, the data captured in a persona should reflect the goal for that persona and the scope of work it is meant to impact. Often, people create the wrong tool for their needs or they want to (re)use personas created for a very different purpose.
How do you avoid bias in personas?
Persona names should strive to remain gender neutral, either be deliberately relevant for a specific age range or be timeless, avoid fictional, stereotypical, or famous references, and strike a balance between generic and inspirational.
