A rule of thumb is 45–57px for a touch target, but for mobile that often result in fields which look obnoxiously large. Sizing input fields between 32px and 40px in height makes your field finger-friendly and not very large at the same time.

For form fields with a variable input (name or email) length but within a standard average, you should find a suitable width based on the average length of possible inputs. Studies show that those input fields typically range from 18 to 33 characters.
How wide should a web form be?
1280px and 1920px are the two standard widths for web design. A 1280px website will look great on laptops and mobile devices but not so great on large monitors. To ensure your site looks just as good on big screens as it does on small screens, set your max site width to 1920px or more.
