Select any empty cell inside your Excel document -> press the Ctrl+1 keys on your keyboard. Select the Custom format option found at the bottom of the list. In the text box -> type YYYY/MM/DDD -> press Ok.

In Excel, dates are stored as sequential serial numbers. The imported dates are probably stored as a text value, instead of real numbers, and that is causing the formatting problem. Note: Only positive numbers can be formatted as valid dates.
