Can I redraw a copyrighted image?
Both reproduction and adaptation of previously published work require copyright permission to have been granted. Redrawn figures do not require copyright permission, nor do figures created using data or results from other publications.
What happens if you copy someone's art?
If you copy another artists' work it is illegal to sell it as your own without permission from the original artist as this would infringe their copyright.
Can I use other peoples art in my art?
If copyright creates a group of exclusive rights in the creator, that should mean permission is needed when you want to incorporate someone else's creative work into your own. But permission is not always needed.
Is it okay to draw someone else's art?
The creation of a derivative work is by definition an infringement of copyright. The only person who can give permission for the creation of a derivative work is the owner of the copyright. You may want to work with artists and illustrators on collaborations.
