Most usability testing is qualitative
The most prevalent form of usability testing is qualitative. It aims to learn more about users' opinions and observe challenging or interesting points in their experience with a design.
What is quantitative user testing?
A quantitative usability test is a method where participants perform controlled, key tasks in a system while you collect specific metrics that describe the user's experience and performance in those tasks (like time on task or task success).
Can quantitative research be tested?
When you conduct a piece of quantitative research, you are inevitably attempting to answer a research question or hypothesis that you have set. One method of evaluating this research question is via a process called hypothesis testing, which is sometimes also referred to as significance testing.
