If your mouse does not have a wheel, hold the Windows key and + (plus) or - (minus) to increase or decrease magnification. The Magnifier keeps your settings between each use.

Simply go into your control panel>hardware>devices>mouse and turn off the multitouch gestures. Uncheck all the boxes and click apply.

You can set up the operation in system preferences, Accessibility under System. Tap Zoom under Seeing on the left, then check the Use keyboard shortcuts to zoom; you'll see Toggle Zoom on the first line with the symbols for Option and Command and the 8 key.
