Is slider good UX?
Sliders are excellent UI controls, but they are not one-fits-all tool. They are good when users want something that is relative, but not very good for exact values. When designing a slider, measure interaction cost and make sure that the users can select that range (or single value) correctly from the first attempt.
Why are slider fields useful?
In all of these use cases, a slider is helpful because it allows users to explore a wide range of options quickly. For precise input, a slider can never beat a regular input field, but we can use a slider to nudge our customers to explore available options and, hence, aid them in making an informed decision.

Slider is a control that allows users to select a specific value (or range of values). All too often users get the information of what the value is all about by reading the label on a slider. At the same time, it's possible to create a much better user experience by visualizing the data connected to the slider.
What is slider in user interface design?
Sliders are often the UI control of choice for letting users select a value or range from a fixed set of options. However, in practice, sliders are difficult to manipulate. Especially on touch interfaces, the level of control needed to meticulously operate a slider to an exact value is simply not realistic.
