Where should a back button be placed?
Place a persistent Back to Top button in the lower right side of the page. This is where people expect to see it. This position is out of the way, but noticeable. When the button is placed in a different place on the screen, it is often ignored.
Should the Back button be on the left or right?
It is placed in left side because for the right handed user it is easier for Thumb Tip to reach to the left side rather than retracting and bending down to the right side. Hope you got your answer, otherwise Try it out!
Why is the back button on the top left?
Because in general sense back is intended to be the top left . Even all Major browsers and OS has back operation placed in top left. That has been the standard place for Back buttons since long before iOS came along. It was there in Netscape Navigator, for instance.
