What resolution should images be for Retina display?
To accommodate high resolution/retina displays, you'll want to use an image that's 1280 pixels wide, which is what's referred to as “2x”. While the graphic will still display on the website at 640 pixels wide, you are doubling the pixel density by using an image that's double the size.
What is the ideal image size?
To ensure that your full width images look good across any device big or small the recommended size is 2400x1600px. Note that devices have different ratio than the one you shoot and it is possible your images will be cropped when viewed on web.
What is retina image size?
Retina display is a high screen resolution of 4k or 5k, meaning a monitor resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels for 4k and 5120 × 2880 for 5k. Retina images are images that can be viewed with great quality in these resolutions.
How do I make my retina ready photos?
To create a bitmap Retina image you need to take a larger image, with double the amount of pixels that your image will be displayed at (200 x 200 pixels), and set the image to fill half of that space (100 x 100 pixels).
