A segmented bar chart are used to compare two or more categories by using vertical or horizontal bars. Typically, the stacked bars show the percentage-of-the-whole of each group and are plotted by the percentage of each value within each group.

How is a segmented bar chart different from a side by side bar chart?

While a bar graph represents the frequencies of categories of one variable, a stacked (segmented) bar graph represents the frequencies of combinations of categories of two variables.
