What special characters are allowed in addresses?

All mail will be sent to this address. Valid characters are uppercase letters (A-Z), lowercase letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), period (.), apostrophe ('), dash (-), number (#), at (@), percent (%), ampersand (&), slash (/), and spaces. No other characters are allowed.

Can mail id have special characters?

Despite the wide range of special characters which are technically valid, organisations, mail services, mail servers and mail clients in practice often do not accept all of them. For example, Windows Live Hotmail only allows creation of email addresses using alphanumerics, dot ( . ), underscore ( _ ) and hyphen ( - ).
