What is right to left layout?
When text, layout, and iconography are mirrored to support right-to-left (RTL) UIs, anything that relates to time should be depicted as moving from right to left. For example, in a RTL layout, forward points to the left, and backwards points to the right.
What does force RTL layout direction mean?
Once you select this option, your layout will automatically change to prefer RTL when possible. (1) Tick the box next to the "Force RTL layout direction" option, (2) The menu with RTL enabled. This option makes it a lot easier for left-handed users to select options using their primary hand.
Which icons should be mirrored for RTL?
Icons that speak or reflect direction should be mirrored.
In order to trigger the same feeling, or intent to the user across LTR and RTL interfaces, icons with direction associated with them should be mirrored in-order to send the same message, where otherwise it could send the opposite intent.
What is LTR and RTL?
For example, the en-US locale (for US English) specifies left-to-right. Most Western languages, as well as many others around the world, are written LTR. The opposite of LTR, RTL (Right To Left) is used in other common languages, including Arabic ( ar ) and Hebrew ( he ).
