What is navigation in UX design?
In UX, 'navigation' includes all functionalities and visual cues that people use to orient themselves in any digital product. When we think of all the digital places we go, navigation is the way finding system that makes or breaks someone's understanding of where they are, where they can go, and how to get there.
What are the 4 types of navigation?
The field of navigation includes four general categories: land navigation, marine navigation, aeronautic navigation, and space navigation.
Why is keyword search often a bad replacement for navigation?
Search forces users to work more because not only must they come up with a query, but they also must type it. Typing has high interaction cost; it is error prone and time consuming even with a full keyboard (and even more so on a touch screen). The interaction cost of search is greater than that of browsing.
What is difference between search and browse?
Key differences between the two behaviours:
In searching mode you are 'looking for', while in browsing mode you are 'looking at'. In searching mode you are looking for a specific result, while in browsing mode you are looking for general ideas or multiple answers.
