Should I ask users to rate my app with pop-up window?

From my own experience with a 2+ million downloads app: yes, asking the user to rate your app is definitely a good idea! My app's average rating skyrocketed after adding such a prompt. The important thing is to only show the prompt after the user has used your app a few times.

Ask for a rating only after the user has demonstrated engagement with your app. For example, prompt the user upon the completion of a game level or productivity task. Never ask for a rating on first launch or during onboarding. Allow ample time to form an opinion.
