We pulled Auth0 data from March 2022. While username and password login is still the most common login choice, accounting for 62% of monthly user logins and 60% of monthly active users. Social login was used in 14% of logins. Across the board, 25% of monthly active users used social login at least once.

Do people use social login?

Given how many users indicate they prefer social login, giving people the option to register using their social account IDs rather than a registration form is more likely to increase user engagement.

Is social login safe?

While social logins can decrease the security issues associated with passwords, they can also pose a problem if the original social media login is hacked or banned. This would make it difficult for customers to log in to their account, forcing them to either create a new account or give up your website altogether.
