What is a splash landing page?
A splash page is a page that visitors see before exploring the rest of your website. (But it's different than a landing page—more on that below.) It can help you say all the things you need to say right before someone clicks through to your homepage. It's kind of like what a prologue is to a book.
Are splash pages outdated?
Splash pages are outdated on today's web. Most people find them annoying.
What is the difference between a home page and a splash page?
A homepage typically has navigation links and a lot of information on the product or service. A splash page doesn't necessarily have a background image or graphic. A homepage has one or a combination of graphics. A splash page has a single purpose (either present visitors with a choice or relay a message to them)
Do splash pages work?
It works to instigate visitors to browse through the website further. Additionally, many companies incorporate a splash page as a warning for visitors as well, in case of sensitive content or other disclaimers.
