The new 'Swipe actions' page now gives you the option to customize the swipe right and swipe left actions. You can choose between “Archive,” “Delete,” and “Off.” If you set 'Swipe right' as 'Delete,' a right swipe on the message would delete the message, and the same goes for 'Swipe left.

Which swipe to delete?

Simply swipe left on the item that you want to delete and a delete action is presented to you. Tap the Trash can or Delete action.

Does swiping right delete emails?

Out of the box, Gmail is set up such that a left swipe of an email deletes it and a right swipe snoozes it.
