What makes a quality keyboard?
The best keyboards will have weighted and graded keys to mimic the feel of a real piano and often will have speakers built right into the keyboard. Digital pianos don't often have the sound range of synthesizers—they're intended for serious practice rather than musical experimentation.
What alternative is being used instead of a keyboard to write on the screen?
There are several different kinds of keyboards for PCs. The most common type is a physical, external keyboard that plugs into your PC. But Windows has a built-in Ease of Access tool called the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) that can be used instead of a physical keyboard. You don't need a touchscreen to use the OSK.
