What is the difference between material symbols and icons?
Both Material Icons and Material Symbols support three styles: Outlined, Rounded, and Sharp. Material Icons also supports a two-tone and a filled version. However, the variable axes in Material Symbols allow for further refinement. The axes allow you to vary weight, fill, optical size, and grade.

What are material icons? Material design system icons are simple, modern, friendly, and sometimes quirky. Each icon is created using our design guidelines to depict in simple and minimal forms the universal concepts used commonly throughout a UI.
How do I link Material Icons?
To embed Google Icons in your HTML web pages you have to add the link of material-icons font library in the <head> section of your HTML file and then add the class material-icons in the <i> or <span> tag of the <body> section along with the name of the icon.

We believe that everyone should have access to quality design resources, so Material Icons are open source and available under the Apache 2.0 license.
