"CLICK HERE" is Not SEO-Friendly
Search engines, such as Google, use the strength of your links in their algorithm when they determine your placement in search engine results. When you use “click here” as your link text, all that you're doing is letting the search engines know that your content contains a link.
Should you use Click here for links?
It can be confusing about what the link is or where it will lead you. While this may seem like a good phrase to use to make it obvious for users to click a link or button, using “click here” is actually bad for usability, accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO).
Why is click here a link ineffective text?
“Here” Conceals What Users Are Clicking #
Some links use the word “here” instead of “click.” The problem with using “here” in a link is that it conceals what the user is clicking. The text around the link might explain what they're clicking, but when the user reads the link itself they won't have a clue.
Is click here accessible?
As we mention in our Top 10 Tips for Making Your Website Accessible, using "click here" is not considered descriptive, and is ineffective for a screen reader user. Just like sighted users scan the page for linked text, visually-impaired users can use their screen readers to scan for links.
