Is the Enter key the same as the return key?
The Enter key was originally the "Return key" on a typewriter, which caused the carriage to return to the beginning of the next line on the paper. In a word processing or text editing application, pressing Enter ends a paragraph.
Is return the same as Enter?
As a general rule, when they differ, Return is simply the key for typing a newline character (which, on classic Mac OS, was literally a return character, but let's not get into that here), whereas Enter enters what you've already typed without adding a new line.
What is the function of Enter return key?
