Does WCAG apply to native mobile apps?
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) have been the standard for digital accessibility the world around for two decades. While it wasn't created to specifically govern native mobile applications, many of the guidelines can be applied either directly or with some thoughtful interpretation.
Why is high contrast an issue to be considered on mobile?

What is contrast ratio in mobile?
A "contrast ratio" is a computation of the difference in luminance, or intensity of light emitted, between two neighboring colors when shown on a display. This ratio ranges from 1 to 21 (often written as 1:1 to 21:1), where increasing numbers mean higher contrast.
