When would it be better to provide a PDF document rather than an HTML document?
PDF information is less accessibile than HTML, e.g. for those with vision impairments. PDF is designed for printing, not browsing or spreading information. When the user does a copy-and-paste of text, it all ends up in one blob with paragraphs, lists, etc.
What is an advantage of exporting as an HTML file or a PDF is there a format you think you ll use more often?
HTML documents can be attached to emails and viewed using any browser, even with no internet access (as long as it is a self-contained HTML document, which R Markdown exports usually are). PDF looks most professional when printed.
When would you use a PDF version of a document?
Answer. PDF stands for "portable document format". Essentially, the format is used when you need to save files that cannot be modified but still need to be easily shared and printed. Today most devices have a version of Adobe Reader or can open a PDF in an Internet Browser.
Is HTML more accessible than PDF?
HTML is easy. PDF… not so much. It's generally considered that “HTML is accessible”.
