Are modals good for UX?
All UX patterns have specialized case uses and functions, and UX modals are no different. In fact, they are the best functioning piece of UX pattern for announcing something important or making sure you have the full attention of a user/website visitor on a browser window.
Should I use modal or new page?
Modals are a good fit if your users often switch between products and the interactions are limited. New page is a good fit if the interactions are various and somewhat complex, but you do not ease switching to other projects.
What is a modal in UX?
A modal is a window that appears on top of a parent screen. It's called 'modal' because it creates a mode that disables the parent screen but keeps it visible. Users must interact with the modal to return to the main screen. Designers use modal windows to grab users' attention.
Why avoid modals?
Avoid modal dialogs for complex decision making that requires additional sources of information unavailable in the modal. Modal dialogs should be used for short, direct dialogs with the user.
