How many fonts should you use in a design?
A website should keep the number of fonts to a minimum—no more than three in total. When a site has too many fonts, the user can become disoriented with so many shifts in the visual design. The chosen typefaces should have a variety of weights and styles that can be used strategically in the UI design.
How many font sizes should a design system have?
Systems leverage a type scale to offer core text sizes — often named simply as text or body — that include small , medium , large , and if you need it, xs , xl , and so on. Most systems need three or so (thus, my comfort with using t-shirt sizes).
How many fonts should one use per document?
Keeping it simple. As we discussed in our lesson on how to format a business document, your writing is most effective when the formatting is simple. One way to keep it simple is to only use one or two fonts per document. This will help make it look more cohesive and professional.
What is the maximum number of fonts you should use?
A generally accepted design practice is to limit the number of different fonts to three or four. That doesn't mean you can't use more but have a good reason to do so.
