How do you read colors on a map?
Topographic maps are color coded: blue for water; white for open terrain, green for forest; black for roads, paths, buildings and other man-made objects.
What type of map is color coded?
Special maps called choropleth maps use color to represent statistical data for a given area. Typically, choropleth maps represent each county, state, or country with a color based on the data for that area.
Why would you use different color maps?
Applications. Color mapping can serve two different purposes: one is calibrating the colors of two cameras for further processing using two or more sample images, the second is adjusting the colors of two images for perceptual visual compatibility.
