What does a subsite look like in SharePoint?
Subsites in SharePoint are the same as a regular site except for the fact that they reside inside a site. Technically, the only sites that can't be termed subsites are the ones that are on the top of the hierarchy, which you usually see in the root.
How do I change the look of a subsite in SharePoint?
Go to Site Settings > Look and Feel > Change the look, select the look as you prefer!
Should you use subsites in SharePoint online?
Site collections are limited to 2000 subsites in SharePoint Online. You'll notice that Microsoft actually recommend creating sites (site collections) and organising them using hubs in the documentation linked above. We recommend creating sites and organizing them into hubs instead of creating subsites.
What is the point of a subsite in SharePoint?
SharePoint sites are organised in a hierarchy that resembles a file system. Each site can contain subsites, so you can have sites nested within each other – just like having nested subdirectories.
