The designer provides the research and the design while the web developer provides a visual realization of the design as well as a development timeline. This means that web developers and UX designers have interdependent roles and have to work closely together as a team.

Whatever tools a product designer may use to work with developers, the entire team has the responsibility of working in tandem and this can be ensured by the product manager. The key is clear communication and building a coherent philosophy about the product that everyone on the team understands.
How do you involve developers in the design process?
It comes down to inviting them to any design sessions that take place. Get them involved in the design exercises you do with clients. Encourage them to sit in on at least some of your usability testing sessions, and involve them right from the beginning of the project. The earlier you do it, the more you will benefit.
