Why are browser logos round?

From a marketing standpoint, familiarity is a big selling point. Therefore, you want to make sure that the branding of your browser is similar to other major browsers out there. That being said, the original logo/icon for the internet was a globe. Therefore there is underlying subtlety in these logos also.
