Why are Coke bottles round?
The roundness of the coke bottle helps equalize the pressure across the surface. If you where to package coke in a milk bottle, the bottle would deform due to the pressure.

A special feature of the carbonated drinks bottles is their rounded shape. This preferred physiognomy is due to the fact that it allows the bottle to be under tension and does not deform so easily. As for the size of Coca-Cola bottles, the thickness of the side walls varies between 3 and 4mm.
Why are water bottles not square?
Because round bottles have a higher vertical load than square ones, you can store more in them. Putting ergonomics into layman's terms, it's about making things better for people while also reducing their stress and strain. Bottles that are round instead of the square are easier to hold.
Why do soft drink bottles have 5 bumps at the bottom?
Having done a bit more research, we have found that these bumps are apparently a code used to identify the mold from which the glass bottle was made. Presumably, this helps the bottler identify the problem area if a series of defective bottles come off the line.
